It’s funny how you change as you get older and you see things differently. I watched the 2007 BBC miniseries of Sense and Sensibility tonight for the first time and I haven’t seen the movie for many years (since I was a kid). I was overwhelmed at how much my perception of Colonel Brandon has changed! As a young teenager watching this story I always thought it awful that Marianne would marry him as he was so old and did she actually really love him or just doing it out of obligation/lost hope of finding anything better. This time round though I realised how honourable Colonel Brandon was and how he was entirely as he appeared. He was truthful and trustworthy and I loved him the best of all the characters (and after him I loved Elinor because I am most like her).
Anyway I always find it interesting to see how much I change as I become older and seen more in life.
I have a lot of intense emotions about a lot of things at the moment and Jane Austen just adds more (meaningless) emotion on top of it. So I’m planning on driving to the beach tomorrow with my journal and my guitar and have a rest, a pray and a think and try and work some of these things out.
Oh and also does anyone think that Charity Wakefield who played Marianne looks EXACTLY like Aaron Tveit from Les Mis? I noticed it straight away…even their smile and the way they look when they talk is similar… Weird.
Anyhoo it’s late and I must sleep now, night dear ones
